It depends on the task, at gaming AMD and Intel are about equal depending on how much the game uses the processor. If you're doing video rendering I would buy an Intel processor like an i5. AMD sells cheaper processors that are better for overclocking (Increasing the base speed of the processor)...

Since the device is new it cannot be a problem with the docking port, it could possibly be a problem with your USB ports. See if you cannot connect to another computer.
