Take the battery out and plug the power lead in, does it still run?

Anyone with a icon below their name e.g a graphics card logo, is a tom's hardware guru. Just look through answered questions till you see some tom's hardware gurus, I don't know how to search for people, sorry.

I think a tom's hardware guru is going to need sort this problem out, private message one of them and ask for help.

How old is the laptop, maybe the laptop is incompatible with most new operating systems, try running an ubuntu version 9 iso and see if you can get it to run, you don't need to install it.

I would go with the mac, I Know the razer blade has a nice gtx 660m compared to the mac's gt 650m but the mac has a full retina display, its thinner, less than half the weight of the razer blade, has a better battery life, and is running osx mountain lion and you can boot camp it into windows.

Can't you update ubuntu to version 12 using update manager? Sounds like a problem with the windows iso or a problem with the bios. All I can say is check through the bios and see if you've selected anything that you shouldn't and try a different operating system, other than windows.
