My new TV is Sony Bravia XBR65X930D. I was looking for the solution of the same problem. It turned out to be much simpler. Go to Settings->Audio->Audio/Headphones Select Audio Fixed or Audio Variable. Now the internal speakers will continue to work even if the headphones are plugged in.
