You should not get any problems. You cannot overcharge the battery because it stops receiving charge when it reaches 100%. However, running it off the battery now and then until it dies can extend the battery life. What will harm the battery is excessive heat.

I would recommend the Samsung Galaxy S4. It has a full HD 1920x1080 5 inch display, a powerful Quad-Core CPU at 1.9GHz and 2GB of RAM that make for great gaming. I believe the phone is $200 with a 2 year contract and around $600 unlocked.
