    Is VR Dying?

Just sold my Samsung odyssey (1st gen). When I got it 6 months ago, I was enthusiastic as its still a rare item in Indonesia. I was very much disappointed since Bethesda want to rake more money by delaying Fallout 76's VR version. In my opinion, greed struck them hard. Fallout 4 VR and Skyrim VR...

    Is this laptop worth it?

You need to define what will you do with the laptop? If its only daily browsing and office work, a A$330 lenovo with SSD should be suffice. SSD for me is a must have since it save battery and more than 7x faster than any HDD which save you a lot of time.

should i water cool my cpu for vr?

just stick with your current Hyper 212, its a decent hsf. If that cannot hold down the temp, then you get the water. Do not expect too much on VR as the standard for them are still under war. Last year's microsoft tried to standardized with its MR, but it seems not successful. wow a 1Tb 960 evo.

Is the 8th-gen i7-8550U sufficient for music production?

well, I did not use laptop much. As far as I know, the "U" means its was build for special purpose, in this case is for laptop. Its super low watt, means it meant to save battery, so do not expect it doing fast heavy crunching. Looking at the bright sight, it has 4 core and 8 threads, as a i7...

Can I play Sims 3 on this laptop with expansions?

Sims 3? Not sims 4? If its Sims 3, then it should do just fine. The laptop is not meant for medium gaming, but Sims 3 is considered light gaming now.

Should I upgrade my 2011 laptop or buy a new one?

don't worry about bottleneck. Just grab the standard generation of SSD and you're good. Just avoid the 1st generation of SSD which already rare. 2014 above model are good. Evo is a bit too much, not worth it for laptop, only worth it for $1500+ build pc. I am still using $120 ocz arc 100 with...

Should I upgrade my 2011 laptop or buy a new one?

Just get the SSD. Trust me, its totally worth it. You will feel a bit regret for not using SSD sooner. 3 years ago, I installed my useless netbook (toshiba nb200 with only 2Gb ram) with 120Gb OCZ SSD (my first SSD and was retired from my main pc due to small space). I gave it window 8 and the...

Exchange surface pro 4 core m3 for i5 model?

Yeah, the main issue is the build in gpu in m3 or i5 is not good enough to go above 1080p. Even your old hp 8560p has its own AMD Radeon HD 6470M - 1 GB GDDR3 SDRAM gpu. Basically, any model of surface pro 4, all has similar gpu, which is the main problem to your need. Better return it.

    I3 5th gen vs i3 6th gen

They are not much different in term of speed. Its all depending on the pricing. If its $20 or less difference, you should get the newer cpu. If not then the 5th gen still ok. R5 gpu should help in performance than integrated gpu, but also not an important factor. You should upgrade the ram...

Putting external graphics card on laptop

As laptop_nerd has answered. But I strongly not recommended it. You have to use your own external power supply or otherwise the upgrade will be limited with gpu that doesn't require extra power supply (which means the gpu range were limited to low end, meaning its make your troublenot worth it)...
