    I figured it out the solution. It is not just adding ARC cable between the TV & the receiver. Specifically to LG Smart TVs, there is a way to do it. IT has to be done using Device Connector feature in TV's setting. Here is more info about it...

    Problem Connecting LG Tv to Sony Receiver

    I got a new LG Tv model 49UH610A. I am trying connecting it to Sony STR - DN850 receiver using HDMI ARC port on the TV. However selecting HDMI ARC on sound out on TV doesn't produces any sound. On the receiver, I could only see one option for TV. Any help?
