Are you absolutely sure you're using the discrete GPU and not the integrated one? it is just running at half of its power. check on some power options and max them out in the control panel. how bout drivers? make sure they are up to date. and on what resolution and settings are you playing...

just making sure,... what are the games you are playing?... you could try this Go to Nvidia Control panel and set Power management mode to use prefer maximum performance and change maximum pre rendered frames to 3.
