You can get HD rabbit ears and get a few local stations in HD - or you can pay $10-15 a box per month and get full HD with a lot of stations - All HD stations with all providers you must have the box - no exceptions. They are sub-standard - you will pay for what you get. Samsung is the best and will cost more, you will enjoy highest standard in LCD and will not look back!

Why in the world would you want to change from the HDMI connection? Go back to tune type if you want s-video. HDMI has both video & audio - It is pure 1080P with MTS Master audio and can be better than going to the movie theatre if you have excellent equipment. Hook up HDMI and forget anything else.

You should be using HDMI connections only for TV, BluRay, Receiver - if you paid Best Buy geeks, they should make it right - something is very not right here - if you can't use HDMI you will never get full HD quality.

You might want to consider renting after looking at prices - Have you checked yet? I have (3) HD boxes, all rentals. I have had to replace (2) of them because of being defective = as you know, just turn your rental in and get another one. It might be a good choice to buy, just depends on brand...

Be sure and check out prices on 1080P - I recommend going there if possible for long term financial advantage You will be at least 2 generations behind. If going either 1080P or 720 - I have (1080P) and like the Epson brand - great buy for the buck! Good Luck!

Not sure of the cost of replacement - my recommendation is to buy a new one and not replace = if the cost of repairs are over 50% of a new one - buy a new one! I am sure it will exceed the cost of a new one. The Plasma TV's are not very cost effective - Good Luck with your decision!

It is simple = You want to be HDMI at all costs, you can't get DTS top sound with any other connections.

Are you talking about a receiver or blu-ray player? The 1080p is the standard at this time for blu-ray player. The 1080i is below the 1080p in the upconversion scale. Get the 1080 P. Good Luck - Make it Happen! :bounce:
