Yeah, this is the recent malware in the news i think which runs in the background forcing adwares and also spying. It is actually a rootkit. You can try malwarebytes Antimalware (https://www.malwarebytes.com/), i think it will detect it but dont know if it will fix it completely.

Ok, then i would suggest you to freshly install windows 10 using media creation tool; it might be upgrading win 8.1 to win 10 is causing the issue.

Are you using any antivirus or internet security suite; If yes for the time being i will ask you to uninstall it, and try the driver installation again.

If this doen't fix, then i think you should send your laptop for repair again, seems a hardware problem related to the GPU.

post a screenshot of device manager here for the drivers with the yellow exclamation... And one more thing, i would advice you to go to the manufacturer's website and download all the latest drivers there. Check to see if a bios update is available... And also upgrade to windows 10....

Use DDU http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html to uninstall the drivers and install it again... Step: 1) Install ddu 2) Reboot to safe mode. 3) Uninstall nvidia driver using ddu. 4)Reboot to normal mode. 5)Install the Nvidia drivers again.

During that hdd suspicious activity, does task manager show any kind of activity? Its very strange to do that without showing any usage info in task manager or led activity light. The only other thing i can think about is if it did start after any windows update, which has known to cause issues...

Ok, go to the asus website and download the IRST driver for this particular laptop and install it. And what power management profile are you using? Change the power plan to high performance, disable any asus power management profiles or utility.

I had a macrium reflect full backup that dated back to 25th of september, so then i restored it and was surprised to see even with ccleaner 5.33 installed, the registry entries that were supposed to be installed...

windows defender is decent but having a standalone internet security suite helps. You can unblock the access to the internet of that particular game in bitdefender settings. Which game are you talking about?
