umm...some high-end games require dedicated graphics. you'll need to check that out before you buy the laptop.

as for film editing, have you though about portable workstations? Quadro could do good jobs on that, and MSI and Dell should have good models for you.

if you think i7 is worth such cost than i5, then it should be fine. don't think too much. if you think gpu is more important than your usage, maybe gaming, maybe some certain graphic application..maybe return the hp and get dell or other brands like lenovo, msi if they have suitable models for...

I think high-end here refers to the GPU, usually GTX970M+, and some people think of GTX980M. Usually people who need these GPU spec are heavy gamers or deal with multi-tasking often. if you're talking about playing games, I would think more about MSI and Alienware or maybe ROG as well. It's because they have more complete lineup with the gaming series, bringing you more choices when getting one.

How about MSI GP62 or ASUS G74SX...

there is Alienware and Gigabyte for 14"+ 3GHz in Amazon. If you may accept 2.6GHz, there is also GS40 for your option...

when it comes to the gaming laptop with the first tier brand, you cannot miss MSI and Alienware here. For GTX970M, how about MSI GS70 and Alienware ANW17-2143SLV? Also check out Xotix, CUK, HID, they should also have some promotions on these models...
