After struggling for so long with this issue and finally posting a question in this forum... I found the problem. The CD drive was just not working. It shows power but it is not showing up in the BIOS. I plugged in an external DVD drive into the USB port and was able to boot from it.

I have an old Toshiba Satellite Pro P100 (PSPA1C-TM30XE) It is running Windows XP. I can't get it to boot from the CD drive. I have a Linux disc I want to run from boot. The BIOS doesn't have the security mode feature that many of the newer Toshiba's have so, there is no place to change from...
