Either your hardware supports it or it doesn't. My new ASUS does not. All of the above suggestions do not work. The fn key in itself, ie. pressed on its own, is not detectable by the OS. Certain fn-function keys *are* detected by OS, others are not, which is to say the hardware never exposes...
