VG258QR. I already found out the problem - it's the HDMI port that's 1.4 on monitor itself so a HDMI 2.0 cable wont help run it at anything above 144hz. However, when I turn down the resolution to 720p (where even a HDMi 1.4 cable should be able to run at 240Hz), it still doesnt work. Any ideas?

I have a 165Hz monitor and an HDMI 2.0 cable which should run up to 240hz on 720p as well as 1080p. However it maxes out on 144hz and wont run up to 165Hz which is what I need. I want to get the full potential of my monitor, should I just get another cable? maybe I should try HDMI 2.1 (my latop...
