Simple explanation is a drive partition is a section of the hard drive that is treated by the computer as a separate drive, in this case it would mean that either you need a blank section of the disk to revert to or to revert from (dont know which without more details and googling sorry)

Have a nexus 5 and set it up for MTP, the only issue i have with it is if I lock the screen then it essentially locks the phone and i can't transfer anything (set my timeout up to 2 minutes so i can do transfers without it locking up) You should be able to see it in your hardware manager...
