I have never ever heard of the VC board effecting the digital channels, if so take it out and see what happends, you do not even need a VC board unless you sub to analog. What quality are you getting on the HBO V and H feeds on Galaxy-1R? the FEC rate (forward error correction) that HBO uses...

I always make my own composite component cables with rg6 like many pro's do, you can buy the heads and pop em on the ends works great and much better than many you buy in the store.

You may want to go out and grab a 90cm or larger reflector, a diseqc motor is the best choice for a fta setup, you can also look around for a 10' try to get it free, and pop it up for c/ku feeds, though only if you have the room. If you do go with a smaller reflector like a 90cm you can grab...
