I just wanted to provide an update, to help anyone with a similar issue. My mousepad is working perfectly fine now. Since it stopped working, I've been using a mouse, and yesterday when I checked it, it worked fine, it's working fine too. It took about a week for it to start working again.

I got this error yesterday for no apparent reason. I have found no viruses in my laptop,I have reinstalled the program and drivers and yet it still gives me the error. I downloaded the drivers from HP's support page.
