Does the cable convert to NTSC or PAL? And is your TV NTSC or PAL?? I had this kind of problem with a PS1 that I got as a gift from the US (I live in Europe). This does not tend to be a problem on a modern display because they can autodetect the standard and adjust the display accordingly.

Check and see in the TV's audio setting what is set as the current audio output. Then check if the sound bar is connected to that output. If not adjust accordingly.

Have you tried reading your TV's manual to see if there is an option to adjust the Zoom/Aspect Ration? Any newer TVs should be able to strech and scale the video automatically.
