DONT get a mac! They are good for general usage, maybe even better that a windows pc. But they are not very flexible, you are tied to the mac os, and many programmes only have a windows version! If you need specialist programmes, which i am guessing you will, then a mac is not a good way to go!

Cant help you with laptops, sorry. If it doesnt have to be a laptop, desktops are a lot cheaper especially if you build it yourself. If you want some help choosing parts for a desktop, i can help you!
