So I have an old dell inspiron 1100 I picked up from a boot sale for £5, its has a very slow single core celeron, 845gl intel graphics and 700mb or ram (I upgraded it from 256mb) and 40gb of hdd, other than that windows xp is slow, web browsing and very simple videos is hard for this laptop...

If I wipe the hard drive clean can I remove hp sparekey because I cant change the boot selection because I don't have the password and they guy I got it off doesn't know either?
