Why stay with the laptop R4? I found the Aurora R4 to be way more worth it per dollar, it's a powerful rig and got good reviews (http://reviews.mysteryblock.com/alienware-aurora-r4-review/). You'd be better off long term with a desktop, or even the X51 is good. It has multiple price ranges too.

If you were looking for a desktop under $700, I could help you out. But since laptops are marginally more expensive (production wise) than desktops, I don't have any options in mind that could play those games.

Honestly, despite all the hate for Alienware, I'd say the Alienware 17 laptop is a good choice for your budget. Their strongest Alienware 17 model is $2299, and it has an awesome battery with 16GB of RAM. It will run those games you mentioned without a problem.

I wouldn't go for cheap if you were trying to protect your iPhone. There are a bunch of nameless companies selling cases at Walmart, Best Buy, etc that aren't that good for the money. I'd shell out $20 or so for an on-sale Otterbox though.
