After ordering four of these adapters off eBay I bought one from Walmart made by ONN for $20 and it works. This is in the United States. It maybe a proprietor store brand. Don't know is ASDA in the UK is still owned by Walmart or not.

Sorry that this concerns a Chromebox and not a laptop but I can't find a section on Chromeboxes. If someone wants to move this question to a more approriate section that would be OK. So I looked on Google to see if anyone is having this same problem and found this forum people asking the same...
