This doesn't help at all as I cannot get logged onto my pc, as it won't even boot up! Black screen, no function, no action, nada. (I'm at work using that laptop right now... will try to do more w/ my home one this evening).

my Acer laptop shut down... it will not start up at all; I unplugged everthing, took out battery and replaced, but it's still not starting up.... for no reasons??? It does this after power surges and I go thru all that and it usually starts back up- it'll act like the plug is not installed for...
