jsmithepa, thanks so much for your response! I guess this won't work for my situation, 2 HDMI ports in tv and 1 HDMI in all the rest. I have tried all different options, and can not get the dvd/vcr to produce both picture and sound. I really appreciate your help though, and I will keep trying...

I am trying to hook up a Spectrum cable box (Arris DCX3600M), with my home theatre system (Sony HBD-DZ175), my digital tv (Sharp LC37SB24U) and my HDMI VCR/DVD Recorder (Sony RDR-VX535). They are NOT HDMI (ARC) devices, although they all have HDMI slots. Can you please help!
