I'd prob go with 65. My living room is huge....and from the couch at 8ft to the kitchen at more like 20...it works well.

Is there a gaming mode on the TV? Sometimes that can adjust how it's processing video and could eliminate some of these sorts of issues. Alternative is to get a diff TV. ;) Congrats on the baby!
