a 15" lcd is a little bit small ... better go with 17" ,,, but pro laptop are heavy (7-9 lbs ) and always prefer a Nvidia Quadro card instead of AIT Firepro .... 3d rendering love Nvidia ! Under 1500$ .... why don't you look for used Hp elitepro ? 8770w with NVIDIA Quadro K3000M?

of course ,,,, a laptop still more expensive for the same power but just the GPU card ( NNvidia Quadro k4000) is around 700$ usually a laptop cost 2x the price

qazzi your wrong ..... but not standard one ,, you need pro laptop with NvidiaQuadro card such hp Elitebook .... for exemple : hp elitebook 8770w .... this not the same kind of GPU ... not for gaming but for 3d rendering Nvidia Quadro , ati Firepro

still the solution to buy used hp EliteBook ( 8740w ) on ebay for around 400-600$ US the come with a 17 inch lcd , Nvidia Quadro GPU ( look for the FX3800) i7 quad core usually 8GB ram , 7200 rpm HD just have to add a SSD drive and another 8gb of ram .. to have a really good laptop for CAD...
