You can get back original files in their non corrupted form with recovery programs, they are in the layer of the HDD. How it works from my own experience is like this. Pretend in theory you have a 10mb HDD. Pretend it's brand new, so you put 10mb worth of pictures on it. You then delete them...

Since it's a desktop replacement you could just pull the battery out and leave the power cord in. As far as taking it somewhere, sure you would use the battery then. I doubt large laptops with large screens like 17 and 18 inch as well as powerful CPU's and good mobile GPU's etc have good...
