DVD not opening

My Acer Aspire 5534-1146 laptop has a black screen when it's turned on, I tried listening to it when I turned it on and I hear it starting and the fan then it stops but the power light stays on, but the screen stays black. I also noticed the dvd rom is not opening either. Thinking the hard drive...
