jackplug

Hi, So i got headphones with intergrated microphone for my birthday, and it has one jackplug. When i plug it in the green input on my PC, it doesn't recognize my microphone, and i can only hear sound. I heard i have to buy an adapter, and i'm not sure which one and how to use it. Any help...
