one jack

i have a lenovo g50 which has only one jack port . it works perfectly with the headset (the sound) . i recently bought a separate mic with jack 3 rings . and i'm wondering if i can plug it in directly and use it . in another question : i don't want to plug the headset and the mic toghether so...
