I've heard laptops are getting closer to desktops in performance, so thought I would get some opinions.

With $1000, would it be wiser to put it all into a laptop, or spend $500 on a cheaper laptop (still able to handle some gaming) and $500 on a gaming desktop?

Solution
I think the majority of people will always say go for the desktop gaming.
But the situation you put here is hard as there aren't any gaming laptops thats can handle games other than LoL, TF2... in the 500$ price range.
Also depends if your traveling or moving all the time, then I suggest you to get the 1000$ laptop.
Laptops also get outdated faster and cant be upgraded. So it's up to you man.
