If in setup menu one does a step through the transponders and watches
the signal strengths, it appears a number of the transponders are not
producing a signal, is this normal or is something wrong with my
equipment? I show the following transponders with no signal:
2,4,6,7,8,10,13,17,28,30,32.

Mostly normal... see

http://www.lyngsat.com/echo8.html

Look at the "Beams" see if your getting the spot beam AND all the
"Conus" beams for your location.

Some are spot beams, some are bad data in the flash.
