1280x800 vs 1366x768 screen on a 15.6" laptop

I made a recent thread with a similar subject but I still had a few queries. Unfortunately, I can't find a "screen" sub-category so I've put it under Category: Graphic and Displays, Sub-category: Graphics Cards. If anyone knows where a thread regarding laptop screens should be placed, please don't hesitate to let me know.

My question is: what is the difference, in terms of general usage and gaming, between a 1280x800 screen and a 1366x768 screen? I'm used to a 1280x800 screen on a 15.6" laptop and, despite what many people say, I find it fine (not perfect) for tasks such as having two word documents open on the page at the same time. If I bought a new laptop with a 1366x768 screen, would the difference be noticeably worse/better?

I'm aware that the 1366x768 screen is wider but shorter, with slightly more pixels - is this the only difference? Basically, I'm reasonably happy with a 1280x800 screen - so is a 1366x768 screen quite similar? I know I'd probably change my tune if I used a full HD screen for any length of time, but still, any help regarding these particular screens would be much appreciated.

I wish I could! I've heard that elsewhere too. Unfortunately, I just have the choice between 1920x1080 and 1366x768. I know many people prefer the 1920x1080 screen, but I just want to know the difference between the following two types of screen: 1366x768 and 1280x800. Is there much of a difference between them? Is the 1366x768 worse/better in terms of quality, viewing space, etc? Does anyone have any first-hand experience with both of these screens?

Please bear in mind that I'm currently doing fine with a 1280x800 screen - I know many people find it too small to work on but I just want to know how it compares to the 1366x768.

Both resolutions are quite close, so you are unlikely to notice much difference between 1280x800 and 1366x768. It's also worth mentioning that 1366x768 is a very popular resolution so most software and websites are designed to work well in it (or higher resolutions).

My last laptop was 1280x800 but everything nowadays are 16:9 so my current laptop is 1366x768, both 15.6" laptops. I do prefer 16:10 but it is just a small difference. They are nearly the same pixel density. There is no way to tell the quality of a screen by its resolution.

It has nothing to do with software and websites working better. 1366x768 is the most used resolution but second place is not far behind and is 1024x768 followed by 1280x800. Websites intentionally leave space on the sides for smaller resolutions. It is also easier to read when words don't span across the whole widescreen. The only reason it's popular is 16:9 is becoming the widespread standard.
