Hey, so I'm looking for a nice gaming laptop for under $3000, and yes it needs to be a laptop and not a desktop (I wish) for my own practical purposes. I will need to be able to run programs like CAD on it as well as my own gaming fun. Preferably 17.3". Looking at some companies like msi, alienware, Razer. And if there is something new coming out in a few months I can wait, I am not too much in a rush, thanks.

I agree with TechNeeeQ on everything about the GT72, but battery life. Realistic battery life is 1.5-4 hours depending on what you are doing. I don't recommend buying the MSi through Amazon though. You can start with a bare bones MSi GT72 with a 980m on XOTICPC for under $1400, add a 250GB M.2 SATA, 16GB RAM, OS, and it will come to about $1600.00
