Our home was built in 2008. An HDMI cable runs behind the wall and comes into the rock fireplace to allow connection of a TV mounted over the fireplace to the Cable box. We recently purchased a 4K TV and 4K TiVo, however, the HDMI behind the wall connecting the two is not a high speed HDMI. There is no way to replace the HDMI in the wall due to the fireplace. Would placing an HDMI upscaler on the TV end correct the HDMI cable speed issue thus allowing me to maintain the clean look without visible cables?

Solution
A scaler would not help you.
If you are getting a 4k picture without issues then the cable has a high enough data rate.
If you are having problems you would have to look into a new HDMI cable or using CAT6 cables with adapters at both ends. You might be able to run CAT6 since it is so much thinner than an HDMI cable.

You may be able to use a wireless solution.
