6 Core Unlock?

I just recently bought a six core and a new psu and also another 5770 (crossfire)

ASUS 890 GX M4A89-GTD PRO
950 W Corsair
2x 5770 XFX
1 TB HD
AMD Phenom II Thuban 1090T Black edition @ 3.2 GHZ

I am getting a REALLY low fps in Crysis 2 Demo. Less that I should. I figure it wasn't the cards because I used MSI Afterburner to check if they were sharing the load. They were. So I was wondering if it was with my CPU. My friend was asking me if I unlocked all the cores with ASUS's core unlocker. I saw it in the bios but didn't do it. Do you need to unlock even if you already have a six core?

Actually, I get quite good frames on my single radeon 4850 and phenom IIx6 1055t on "Hardcore" at 1920x1080. Well, not good. It looked to be between 20-40FPS. Could have been the motion blur messing. I didn't play long because I can't play worth shlt with motion blur and there's to way to turn it off in the demo. Anyway, yeah. I'll redownload it and check with fraps. What settings are you using and what framerate were you getting exactly?

Edit. So I get 20FPS 1080p at hardcore, 23fps at gamer 1080p, at gamer 720p I get 45fps.

Edit Edit: at the 720p gamer, I suddenly started getting 40-80FPS

Ok. My average FPS is about 30-45. REALLY LOW. To top that off, it is at 80C!!!!! AND IT GOES HIGHER!!! :fou: This is what I just ordered, (hasn't arrived yet), to keep it cool.:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000233ZMU . Now my question is that the card that is heating is my second card. I don't have a slot for this cooler in front of that card. How is that going to work???

80*C for a video card is normal on load. Especially these days. My friend's 4850 has been hitting 90*C since he got it. Though, 90*C is a bit high.
I overwrote the bios on mine to have the fan keep it at ~75*C on load.

?
I guess not.

Was that 80ºC for the CPU temp? If so, you're slowly frying your CPU.

80ºC for a modern graphics card is nothing. Over 105ºC on the other hand would be starting to get bad. Graphics cards will usually shut down the system before they actually get hot enough to have damage.

You'll just have to jerry-rig a case fan or something to blow onto the card that isn't being cooled by that Vantec cooler.

Maybe the demo doesn't work well with CrossFire or something. It's happened before with demo versions of other games.

Enzo -- you trying to do the degree symbol? Hold the left Alt key and type 0186 on the keypad, then let Alt go.

NO WAY man. At load, my CPU stays at most, EHH 50C. AND THATS WITH STOCK FAN!!!
But anyways, I managed to get my gpu to not go anywhere over 70. I turned the fans up to 75%. Wonder what they could do at 100% LOL. I think I will go even lower with my 2 fans I ordered. BTW Do you think it will be safe to overclock the cards with a 950 W PSU Running 100% fans?

lol too lazy. Thought maybe I could just get away with some html formatting.

Phenom II = Bottleneck with 2 cards

with 2 mid-quickly-becoming-low-end 5770s? you gotta be kidding me. Especially with the crytek engine. That's just stupid and I'm not going to say anything more on it.

Actually, considering my 4850 framerate at 1080p and assuming you are running 1080p, the frames you are getting kinda make sense. Has anyone else tried the crysis 2 demo?
