Ive started using hushmail... they require a minimum 16 character password and they can encrypt emails for free. Only caveat is you have to log in once every 3 weeks.

never had my email account hacked yet.
and if i did i'd delete it first thing. once compromised it will be broken into repeatedly. half of the lock is the unknown address. the rest is just finding the right key or just making a skeleton key.
