As far as I am aware of, the least power current nVidia GPU that is manufactured in MXM format (meaning owner replaceable GPU) is the GTX 1050 Ti. The MSI GL63 comes with either the GTX 1050 or GTX 1050ti. I highly doubt MSI is producing two separate motherboards for this particular laptop model. One with a MXM port for the GTX 1050 Ti and another that has the GTX 1050 integrated with the motherboard. From a financial point of view it does not make sense since it would increase the overall cost for producing the MSI GL63 series. Unless MSI specifically states otherwise, the GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti are integrated into the motherboard.

For the sole purpose of playing games the 7700hq+gtx1060 is better than the 8750h+gtx1050ti combo...

If it is between the 1050Ti and the 1060, I recommend the 1060 every time. The 7700HQ is a good chip too. Unless you are doing some really CPU intensive things you most likely won't need anything else. The 8750H is a heck of a CPU and is appreciably faster in some cases, but I think the 1060 is more than worth it if you are going to be gaming.

I disagree with above. the i7-8750h is a monster over the 7700hq. 6 cores vs 4, while the better GPU is nice, it is replaceable (kind of complicated but possible and has been done).

When it comes to laptops always get the fastest one you can afford, the 8750h will be much faster with any multithreaded task.

this is problematic, if it is 6700hq with 1060 vs 7700hq with 1050ti, I think I am more inclined toward 6700hq with 1060
but this is 8750h we are talking about, its 2 extra cores is so tempting

I don't think the model I mentioned above have replaceable gpu, and even if what you said is true, I don't think I can easily find service center capable of doing it

btw
the one with 8750h and 1050ti is around 300usd cheaper

It does. MSI laptops are based off of standardized designs. You don't even need a service center you can do it yourself, its not very hard. That said even if you couldn't I'd STILL go for the better processor.

For the sole purpose of playing games the 7700hq+gtx1060 is better than the 8750h+gtx1050ti combo. Yeah sure, the 8750H has 6 cores... whoopee. How many games actually make use of more than 4 cores? I can only name two off the top of my head Overwatch and Rainbow Six. Given the fact that the GTX 1060 is definitely more powerful than the GTX 1050 Ti, I pretty much doubt the 8750H and GTX 1050 Ti would beat the 7700HQ and GTX 1060 in those two games.

Unless you know you will be using software that can take advantage of 6 core or you plan on recording gameplay footage using software that relies on the CPU to encode the video (meaning you are not using nVidia's ShadowPlay), then you are better off with the 7700HQ and GTX 1060 combo.
