What does 8-bit mean here anyway? Is it being played on an 8-bit CPU emulator? Or is it 8-bit color graphics? (It actually looked quite better in the VGA days, this is more like 4-bit color...)

Yes, VGA graphics were 8-bit, but you could argue that the indexed color modes were 18-bit (the pallet registers contained 6-bits each for R, G, and B).

This is really clever if you ask me..I would have never thought of creating a playable video game through a series of youtube videos like this. and 8-bit games are badass.
