I am trying to replace the CMOS battery on this laptop. I got a message about the RTC clock battery not being charged. There is no access panel on the bottom of the laptop for RAM or HDD, so I removed the bottom plastic panel, exposing the motherboard. Trouble is, there is nothing that looks like the coin CMOS battery on the mobo. Has anyone done this on this or a similar laptop? I really don't want to have to remove the mobo to look on the top part of the board. Ridiculous that one has to do this just to access the CMOS battery. Very poor design...

Thanks, Laptop_Nerd! So, the CMOS battery is underneath the cooling fan on the top portion of the motherboard? There wouldn't seem to be enough clearance, not to mention it's a pretty strange place for it. Are you sure that the CMOS battery isn't on the top portion of the mobo underneath the top cover that lies over the keyboard? Got any tips for removing the cooling fan? Mine doesn't look like it's coming up anytime soon.

Thanks for your post
