Hello, I have a problem with my Acer Aspire 9820G. The problem is, that that the computer turns itself off after 2 seconds or occasionally runs for a minute or so but turns itself off again when I click on any icon. I have already cleaned all the dust from the cooling system and added new thermal paste to GPU and CPU, so I doubt that the problem is overheating. I have also replace HDD but the problem remains.... Please help!

There are several things you can try:

1. Removing the battery and running on AC power only
2. A different set of RAM sticks, borrow some from a friend... try them one at a time and individually in both slots
3. It could be malware, get on another computer and download a bootable rescue CD and burn it (Kaspersky Rescue Disc comes to mind) then boot into the Linux environment and run the AV

I'll add more as I think of them.

I already trired running the computer only on AC power but it doesn't help, so at one point I even thought that the power adapter might not work but just now the computer worked again for like 10 minutes without the battery in. I will try to change RAM sticks as well. I can also try booting in the Linux environment but I don't think that the problem is connected with the operating system.

Thanks anyway :)
