Acer E5-575-72L3 laptop suddenly very slow

I purchased this laptop back in January. It was very quick until the past week or so. I have not installed any software recently that should be causing this. It did start slowing down after the last Windows 10 update. It's a 1TB HDD with 8GB RAM and an Intel i7 with Turbo Boost. Windows 10 Home 64-bit.
Any ideas?

Is hard drive near full? New OS update could have creatred a windows.old folder and thus duplicated a lot of system files.

You could try making sure all available updates are installed by searching "check update" in the startbox the click check for updates,if it's download updates but not installed yet this could take up system resources, making it slow. If it says you are up-to-date then restart the pc and then check for updates once more
