That must mean there's something wrong with the fan. Open up your laptop to check there isn't too much dust built inside (or anything else preventing it from working).

If it met with an accident recently (eg. dropped it down stairs), and that caused a component or two to stop working, there isn't much you can do.
 
make sure it not a back light failure.try plugging the laptop in to a monitor to see if there any output. some laptops if they lock up may need a hard reset..see if on the vendor web page they show you how. most times it pulling the battey and power then holding down a few keys. with the power off on the laptop flip it over and check that the ram is seated. if there a short on the system most laptop wont turn on to protect themselves.
