Hey all,
Just a simple form post I wanted to make about the V17 Nitro laptop that I will be purchasing and upgrading in the following month around Christmas time.
Link: http/www.amazon.com/Acer-VN7-792G-79LX-17-3-inch-Notebook-Windows/dp/B015XBKYB0/
It's a nice laptop from my hardware understandings and its rather new (DDR4 ram, newest i7 6th gen) and its great for what I will be doing. Only problem is it has a rather slow HDD (5400RPM 1TB) and it will be a big bottleneck in OS/Program launching times (and other various things like file transfer time etc). So I opted to purchase a M.2 SSD to be in replacement of the OS installed drive (in other words, SSD will have the OS, the HDD will be for storage).
SSD Link: http/www.amazon.com/Samsung-850-EVO-250-MZ-N5E250BW/dp/B00TGIVZTW/
So will this SSD work with this laptop? Does the laptop even have a M.2 slot? If its a pcie slot (something new to me, never herd of such on a laptop before) how many lanes will it have (950 pro would be epic )? I know voiding warranty is not a great thing to do with laptops, so will I void it when I take it apart to install the SSD?
I don't see many take-apart videos on YouTube specifically about this laptop (still too new?) and I have no clue if the motherboard/system layout is the same as previous models in the V17 Nitro series, so, i would have to be extremely careful (that is if there is no reference to go by) when I take it apart.
If you have any recommendations on other SSDs/Laptops, feel free to let me know.
Thanks,
-Cha11enger
