I installed Acrobat Pro recently. When I tried to start it, nothing happens. The arrow icon adds an hourglass but nothing happens. There are no entries under services or processes. I uninstalled it, ran CCleaner, and used Advanced Uninstaller to uninstall it. I reinstalled it and still nothing. What gives?

kep55,

Your problem with Adobe Acrobat Pro not running is not unique, but I've never learned the exact cause.

Here's what I would do:

1. Make a careful un-installation of all previous versions. Adobe is quite fussy about this and two versions will not run on the same system.

2. Setup an Administrator account

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-windows-vista/

3. Check the status of the User Account Control and set it for the most permissive setting

4. Disable Microsoft startup processes:

http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html

5. Disable all anti-virus and malware programs.

6. Go...

5. Disable all anti-virus and malware programs.

6. Go to Explorer and find the Acrobat setup.exe and right click "Run as Administator".

If this doesn't work, reboot and try again, making sure all the MS startup processes and anti-virus are still disabled.

Good luck! I couldn't get by a day without Acrobat- extremely useful and V11 has some good new editing features.

Cheers,
