Adapter no longer is charging battery

If your laptop is working with the adapter plugged in but the battery is not charging then it is likely that your battery is broken and will need to be replaced. This happens quite often.

Sorry for not being specific. The adapter does not appear to be doing anything. It is not charging battery nor is it running computer when plugged in. Jack

Did you test the adapter for the right voltage ? If you have no voltage change the adapter.

if you have a friend that has a volt meter then test to see if the ac brick has any output. the output is stamped on the brick in dv volts. most time between 12-17v dc. if the brick wires are twisted or kinked..that most lilky the failure point. laptop also fail if the rubber o-ring on the brick tip falls off and the brick shorts out the laptop mb or the pin on the mb breaks off or the soilder joint snaps.

Got volt meter. charge is coming into adapter but not leaving it to computer. need new adapter.
any suggestions? the present adapter is a HIPRO, HP-A0301R3, OUTPUT 19V. 1.58A. 30W
