Adjust Your LinkedIn Open Profile Settings

With your LinkedIn’s Open Profile settings turned on, you can allow other LinkedIn members to send you messages without InMail. The best part is, the members can message you without any extra cost, and you will be able to receive the messages seamlessly.

However in addition to turning on your LinkedIn Open Profile, you must also configure your account to accept the incoming messages from other LinkedIn members (Learn How). If you only turn on Open Profile for your LinkedIn account but do not configure it to accept the messages, you will receive no messages from the members whatsoever.

Here is how you can adjust Open Profile settings in your LinkedIn account:

■Log on to your Windows PC.
■Open any web browser. (Google Chrome in this demonstration.)
■Type www.linkedin.com in the address bar and press Enter to open the LinkedIn website.
■Provide your email address and password in the Email address and Password fields respectively and click Log In.
■Assuming that your account is upgraded to Premium Account, on the Home page, hover mouse over the Profile menu from the menu bar at the top.
■From the displayed list click Edit Profile.
■Once the Profile page appears, click the Edit icon (icon with the Pencil symbol) representing Premium.
■Check/uncheck the Turn On/Off Open Profile checkbox to open or close your Open Profile respectively as required.

Once you have turned the Open Profile settings on, you can learn how to configure your LinkedIn profile to accept messages by going through the How to Receive Open Profile Messages in LinkedIn tutorial.
