Hi everyone, I'm after a bit of advice here...

In the bedroom I have a TV (lg 50pk590) I like to watch when in bed, however I need it loud as I cannot hear perfectly and this wakes up the missus and can wake up the kids. The TV has an optical input for audio and the red and white R and L audio inputs.

The TV is 4-5 meters away from where my head would be so I need a lead of around 4-5 meters. I also could do with a recommendation for a decent and relatively low price. Maybe £30-£50 for the headphones. Can I get a pair of headphones with normal 3.5mm audio connection and use some sort of adapter or do I need a headset that is completely optical?

I have to add that the manual for your TV footslayer is the most confusing manual I have ever read. It cover a heap of TV's and on every page states 'Image shown may differ from your TV
http://www.manualguru.com/lg/50pk590/owners-manual/page-19 shows a headphone out jack, but as you said, yours doesn't have one.

So I'd be going with americanaudiophile's recommendation and look at digital to wireless transmtiter and grab some wireless headphones.
this overview has some cheapish and cheerful recommendations.

just make sure your wireless transmitter can accept optical IN.
According to the manual on your TV you have optical audio out and a headphone jack.
Simplest solution is a long extension cable with any wired pair headphones. I would suggest you listen to some headphones with the goal being clarity at low volume and of course comfort is important.
Second solution is to use wireless headphones that could connect to the optical audio out or headphone out. The advantage of the optical out is you would not have to unplug the transmitter from the headphone jack to get the TV speakers to work. There are bluetooth transmitters that would be compatible to many different headphones
