Dear Tom's Hardware support team,
I have recently got my hands on two laptops, an Acer aspire 5920g (t7300 processor, geforce 8600m gt 256mb, 2gb ram) and a Asus a7Sn (t8300 processor, geforce 9500m gs and 4gb of ram).
I would kindly ask if you could advise me on the best possible upgrades of CPU, GPUs and ram for these two laptops..
I have been doing some research for the acer laptop and people have managed to install ati hd 4650/4670 in their laptops, but there seems to be a power issue or something with the 4670 so some recommend it and some do not...
Perhaps there is a third alternative that I have missed?
I am unsure wether I will be so lucky with the Asus laptop gpu upgrade, since I read somewhere that the graphics card is soldered to the motherboard, is that correct?
I would also kindly ask if you could advise me on the best possible cpu upgrades for both of them (I was opting for the t9500 for the acer laptop, but recently found up that it can support the x9000 as well. Is it worth spending more than a 100% more money for the x9000 (the t9500 costs 55gbp and the x9000 costs around 150gbp).
And lastly, I have already ordered 4gb of ram for the Acer laptop, but I am wondering if my Asus laptop could support more than 4GB of ram?
Thank you very much for all your help,
Regards,
Matic
