A week or two ago there was some discussion of an "Airplane mode" setting on
iPAQs after doing the early April firmware upgrade.

I know what the setting is for, my cell phone has this mode available.

I've done the firmware upgrade but can't find the place to activate it.
Now, I don't truly NEED it but like most of you gadget-heads I can't get it
to stop niggling at me. Stop, denying it, you know it's true. If I think I
know there's a setting there I can't rest until I find it. So where is the
blasted thing?

Terry,

The mode is only available if the 802.11b radio, and maybe Bluetooth also, is turned on. If the
radio is turned on the tap the connection icon at the top right of the display "Turn on flight mode"
will be displayed in the upper right of the balloon... You can then "Turn off flight mode" at a
later time...

From what I can see, "Flight mode" is not used for Bluetooth or WiFi from
what I have seen so far.

I do see it for GPRS on a Pocket PC Phone Edition 2003 Second Edition.
However, I don't see any Flight Mode for WiFi (Socket CF card) or Bluetooth
on an iPAQ 2215 with the 1.10 ROM upgrade. Do the iPAQs or other PPCs with
integrated WiFi have a flight mode indication?

Well, turning on flight mode certainly kills the 802.11b radio on my 5555, and turning off flight
mode restarts the radio...:)

What is the use of the Airplane mode?

It shuts off the use of wireless connections, which could possibly
interfere with other equipment (as in Airplanes). Turning off your
Bluetooth/WiFi manually in other devices would result in the same
thing.

Depending on what version you're using the name is "flight mode" or "turn
wireless off". This is in the connection icon on the top bar.

On the iPaq 4150, I have this flight mode.

Flight mode is related to phone most of the times, but there are "Flight
Mode" in some text displayed on non-converged devices. On my h4150 it shows
"Turn Wireless Off", and on some h5555 it shows "Flight Mode".

The idea is just to turn wi-fi on and off.
