Airport security dead laptop

Ever since I went thru airport security my laptop won't stop beeping when the battery is in. Blank screen, and even the little power light fades out. I think I might need a new 40wh brick but I'm not sure. //Dell Inspirion 1500

No, with or without the battery it doesn't work. It makes a loud bomb-like beep with the battery in and just doesn't power on at all without it.

Could be the power adapter, could be motherboard issue.

No real way to tell outside of trying a new AC adapter.

Never trust anything not OEM for power adapter. I have seen many damaged laptops or batteries due to "replacement brand" power supplies. I have seen a few motherboards actually charred brown at the power port.
